Best Indoor Sports to Play in Brampton This Winter

TJ's Sports Club · October 30, 2026

When Brampton winter arrives, outdoor fields close and motivation drops. The good news: some of the best sports for fitness and fun are played indoors. Here are our favourites for adults, teens and kids, all available under one roof at TJ's Sports Club.

1. Badminton

Badminton is a fast, full-body workout that's easy to start and endlessly challenging to master. A game of doubles with friends is social and fun; competitive singles will test your fitness like few other sports. It's also great for all ages, so parents and kids can play together.

Getting started: book a court with friends, or join a drop-in session to meet other players. Drop-in at TJ's starts at $10 for 2 hours, and courts start at $18 + HST an hour. We have 10 courts on BWF-approved mats, open 6 am to midnight.

2. Volleyball

Volleyball is the ultimate team sport for the winter months: great cardio, explosive jumps, and plenty of laughs. Indoor volleyball also means no sun, wind or cold.

Getting started: gather a group and book our Olympic-standard indoor court, or join our volleyball training at beginner, intermediate or advanced level.

3. Table tennis

Table tennis is perfect when you have less space or want something lower impact. It's brilliant for reflexes and hand-eye coordination, and easy for any age to pick up.

Getting started: TJ's has an ITTF-approved table you can book online.

4. Pickleball

Pickleball has exploded in popularity across the GTA. It's easy to learn, very social and gentle on the joints, which makes it a favourite for adults and older players.

Getting started: pickleball can be booked through our booking page.

5. Taekwondo (for kids)

Martial arts build balance, focus, discipline and confidence, which is exactly what kids need during long indoor months.

Getting started: our kids taekwondo classes run after school, 3:30 to 5:30 pm, for ages 4–5 and juniors 5–14, with optional school pickup.

Tips for staying active all winter

  • Book a regular slot. A fixed weekly time with friends is the best motivator there is.
  • Try a membership if you play often. Unlimited drop-in is $190 a month at TJ's, which works out cheaper than paying each time if you come often.
  • Warm up properly. Cold muscles get injured. Spend 5–10 minutes on light movement before you play.
  • Wear indoor shoes. Non-marking shoes are required on our courts and protect your ankles.
